Does Tae Kwon Do Resemble any other sport?

Tae Kwon Do was created with many other martial arts influencing the curriculum. Native Korean arts aside, karate probably had the largest influence though TKD places far more emphasis on kicking than karate typically does (likely an element from the briefly mentioned native Korean arts). I believe some of the forms practiced in TKD are nearly identical to some kata found in karate. There are several other Korean martial arts that are very similar to TKD but chose to remain separate back when TKD was organizing and standardizing. There are also some Chinese martial art influences too.
