How to get to know this girl?

Alright, so, here we go... I take Tae-Kwon-Do, and I'm a black belt. One of my friends is in my cl, and he goes to a different school than me. He told me he would talk to girls from his school that are single and try to get me hooked up with one of them. I chose one who lives relatively close to me and looks decent, and he started talking to her about it. She says she's into me and likes the fact that I'm a black belt, but she recently broke up with another boy who went to a different school because he cheated on her. She said that she's nervous about getting into a relationship with someone from another school after this experience. However, she did say she would message me on facebook to get to know me, but it's been over a week now and she's yet to do it. Should I try messaging her? I even asked my friend talk to her again yesterday and got no feedback from either of them. I don't want to message her because I will probably look desperate and could spoil any chance there was if she is still thinking about messaging me. Is there anything I can do?
